About  Royals

This unique band program trains young instrumentalists in the performance of traditional and contemporary music in concert, parade and field show settings.

DThe Red Deer Royals Marching Show Band is Central Alberta’s only Marching Show Band. Our band members (aged 11-21) currently represent 20 schools throughout the area. Although most of the 120 members are from Red Deer, there are young people traveling from as far south as Carstairs, as far north as Edmonton, as far west as Caroline, as well as many other communities in between.

Over the past 48 years, the Royals have developed into an award winning band performing, competing and delighting crowds locally and internationally. They are known for their quality instruction, variety of repertoire and originality of presentation.

The band is made up of woodwinds, brass, percussion and colour guard. Regular rehearsals take place on Wednesday evenings during the school year. As well, there are Saturday blocking camps beginning in late January and our busy performance season runs May to July.
