Concert Band— the Royals perform in approximately 10 concert events between November and April. Concert band includes all woodwind and brass, as well as a concert percussion section.
Parade — The Royals perform in approximately 12 parades annually between Victoria Day and July 30 delighting crowds throughout Alberta. The parades include the hometown Westerner Days Parade and the world – famous Calgary Stampede Parade. They have also performed in a number of special parades including the Grey Cup Parade and Sylvan Lake Hockeyville Parade.
Field Show — The Royals work hard throughout the spring choreographing a field show. This spectacular performance is presented at approximately six
events during the spring marching season including our own Marching Showband Classic.
Winterguard — the colour guard section prepares a show for the Winterguard competition season which takes place in February.
Woodwinds and brass — these sections participate in concert, parade and fieldshow performances. Each section provides opportunities for growth in musicianship and leadership.
Drumline — this section performs in parade and fieldshow performances. Some members of this section are invited to participate in concert percussion and front ensemble.
Colour Guard — this section participates in a Winterguard circuit during the fall and winter and is part of the parade and fieldshow for the spring marching season.
Leadership — Royals provides a number of leadership opportunities including section leaders, concert masters, drum majors and band council. They are great opportunities to develop lifelong leadership skills.
Travel the world — The Royals embark on a tour every three years. Previous tours have included: Australia, Germany, the Netherlands, Ireland, Great Britain, Italy, and Malaysia. The next tour is tentatively scheduled for 2017.
